Outremont (French pronunciation: [utʁəmɔ̃]) is an affluent residential borough (arrondissement) of the city of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It consists entirely of the former city on the Island of Montreal in southwestern Quebec .

Montreal’s Outremont neighbourhood is located just north of downtown and on the northern part of Mount Royal. The English translation of Outremont is Beyond the Mountain. It is a quiet and peaceful neighborhood that contains many parks and offers a great outdoor lifestyle.
Feb 7, 2006 · Outremont. Outremont, Qué, City, pop 22 933 (2001c), 22 571 (1996c), 22 935 (1991c), area 3.83 km 2, inc 1895, was set up as the village of Côte-Sainte-Catherine in 1875. Its present name reflects its location beside ( en outre) Mont Royal, the extinct volcano which occupies the centre of Île de Montréal.
