Nov 21, 2021 · I would definitely not get Rosetta Stone. I had it for Chinese, Japanese and Spanish (a very long time ago). And even though they updated a lot of things, it’s not worth the money. Maybe try utilizing other language apps like duo-lingo, lingodeer (if you’re learning an Asian language) or Memrise.
Jun 5, 2015 · spence5000. •. I got Rosetta Stone for Mandarin and I enjoy it for supplemental study, but it's pretty overpriced for what it does. It's sort of obvious that the method is designed for European languages, because it tries to teach you grammar without any explanation, but Chinese is a bit to foreign for that to work.
Sep 12, 2011 · Rosetta Stone Korean doesn't teach conversation - it's not a good place to start, in my opinion. I highly recommend Korean Class 101 and Talk to Me in Korean, they're both pretty excellent in terms of learning how to actually converse in Korean.
Oct 28, 2017 · Rosetta Stone is overpriced trash imo. Not even just for Chinese, in general. I'd suggest listening to the other suggestions in this thread. I started with Rosetta Stone and it worked well to increase my vocabulary and gain enough confidence to schedule online lessons (the most important thing I did to learn Chinese).
I know back in the day Rosetta Stone was considered the bees knees of language learning but that was long before we had so many free and premium apps to choose from. I have a small education fund through my employer that can be spent on anything that will help my career including language learning. My concern is that I can be spending that ...
Apr 22, 2024 · Rosetta Stone is like Kmart. It was really cool back in the 80's/90's, before Walmart was a thing. And nowadays it's just in a downward spiral of clinging on to the past, and being really expensive, and not really innovating much. But some people like it. I shopped at the Kmart by my house too, until it went out of business.
I would also put Busuu above Babbel and Rosetta Stone. DuoLingo seems more complete and has far more material. I also like it’s method. It works well in small chunks but can go much longer if you desire. I would also add some grammar course like either Paul Noble and Language Transfer if available. Also add more speaking and listening practice.
