Nov 17, 2018 · Teachers Pay Teachers: selling as a Canadian? A colleague tells me that Americans own the rights to materials they create and can therefore sell them on TpT. Canadians, on the other hand, do not have the rights for materials they create while employed by a board (the board does!), and cannot legally sell them. Does this sound right to you? It ...

Jan 19, 2024 · Hello all. I often see posts asking how good is Teachers Pay Teachers and if it is worth it. I have been teaching for 17 years, but only started using TpT about 1.5 years ago. I wanted to give a semi deep dive into TpT with some analysis based on my own observations.
Our district has a firm stance against TpT, for two reasons. First, the district pays the teacher for their labors and the district should be the sole benefit (similar to working on personal stuff while on the job). Second, is the legal side, it's hard to prove to an auditor that the district isn't paying itself.
I made $15 my very first week on TPT when I had 5 products and no followers, covers, thumbnails, or previews. This week I made $4 with 112 products and 30 followers. I really don't understand what's going on. November: $400. December: $123. January: $223. February: $143.
99% of the stuff on TPT is, pedagogically speaking, hot garbage. A LOT of it is cutesy fluff created by inexperienced teachers who are trying to supplement terrible wages. Even top sellers do not actually have pedagogically sound content. They're just really good self promoters, kind of like sleazy salesmen.

Fair compensation for teachers is essential to ensuring every child receives a quality education - and to prepare young people for the future of jobs.
Feb 15, 2024 · A subreddit for all Canadian teachers and those becoming Canadian teachers.
The simple fact is that teachers do buy them. They buy them because they are pressured to do so by their school culture. They buy them with their own money because the school doesn’t provide it. And the seller is profiting off of that, just as the school is profiting off of withholding support and increasing demands.
Feb 19, 2021 · Any info would be great thank you in advance. In not a tax lawyer, but if you can't you might still be able to submit a claim through your board's or your union's PD fund. I did an AQ last year and my local reimbursed me $200 for it. You're not allowed, no. It's not a "consumable" supply. More info here .
