The main plot of Frankenweenie is based on the 1931 Frankenstein. Reanimation of Colossus is fraught with Mummy movie references. Persephone the poodle's hairdo. The character Edgar Gore, or E. Gore, is named after Ygor, the obsessed assistant from this movie.
