  5. Street games, songs & rhymes: Salt, mustard, carrion, pepper Does anybody know the old rhyme "Salt, mustard, carrion, pepper" that used to be sung/chanted during street games (as far as I remember, skipping and some ball games, etc.) in Belfast (at least from the 1950s to the early 1980s)?

  6. Jul 10, 2011 · I'm interested in all those strange old songs and rhymes used in skipping, ball games and other street games in Belfast and other places. It's amazing how they were handed down and survived for ages in many different, scattered places (I've even discovered similar versions of the same things in French!).
