Based on the 1/3 share ratio and prices like 18.92 for Arconic and 23 for Alcoa Corp, the split should be about 71% / 29% with Arconic keeping the larger protion of the basis. Make a backup of your file and give this wizard a try. @Tom Young Does that function exist in QMac also ... because this is a Mac thread. Q user since February, 1990.

Feb 1, 2020 · There are still serious equivalency issues in QM vs Qw in the investment area. Recently dealt with two stocks having spin offs..Gardner Denver to Ingersoll Rand & Arconic to Howmet & Arconic (Pittsburgh). Was able to make it work but a painful experience. IMHO, Qm is superior to Qw in many areas but the investment area is not one of them.

Total agreement with rvc,had to deal with spine offs on two occasions, Gardner Denver (GDI) merged with Ingersoll rand (IR) & Arconic (ARNC) spun off into two separate companies , ARNC & HWM..I was able to do the cost basis manipulations manually but it would have been so nice if QM allowed it from a simple drop down as in QW.
