Faustinopolis (Ancient Greek: Φαυστινόπολις), also Colonia Faustinopolis and Halala, was an ancient city in the south of Cappadocia, about 20 km south of Tyana.
FAUSTINOPOLIS (Başmakçi, Niğde) Cappadocia, Turkey. Formerly a village called Halala, it was raised to the status of colony by M. Aurelius. His wife Faustina the Younger died there on the journey from Syria in A.D. 176.
Location. It was situated in Anatolia in modern Turkey, in the present Çukurova (or classical Aleian plain) about 15 km west of the main stream of the present Ceyhan River (or classical Pyramus river) and near its tributary the Sempas Su. A lofty isolated ridge formed its acropolis.
