Mar 17, 2021 · Update: march 28 2021. I fixed this issue by uninstalling the Intel (R) Smart Sound Technology (Intel (R) SST) Audio Controller driver and the Intel (R) Smart Sound Technology (Intel (R) SST) OED driver at the same time [ use the delete option when uninstalling ], I restarted, and after a second the red x disappeared and my sound was back!!
Jan 25, 2024 · Go to the support page for your laptop on the Lenovo website, then from there, download and manually re-install the Intel graphics drivers, Audio drivers and chipset drivers they provide, do not just update your drivers and while there, check for any BIOS update that may be available and not yet installed. Dec 21, 2023 · I always have the latest Intel Display driver version for my PC (downloaded using Intel's dedicated driver update tool) but Windows keeps bringing up an older version via Windows Update for some reason! And no, I do not select the "Perform a Clean Installation" option when installing newer driver updates using Intel's tool.
