Oct 25, 2019 · The portals themselves look like shrunken iterations of the monolith in “2001,” with some geometric adjustments. Also the surfaces aren’t matte black but kind of reflective, and have built-in lighting effects that resemble those of a high-end, Vegas-like even, haunted house show.
I don't even know what the portals did or why they couldn't just talk to the protagonists even though they could talk to everyone else. Suddenly there's a scene in Jakarta for no reason. 20/10...

Much more interesting in concept than it was good in practice, Portals exists in this weird psuedo-anthology format, where it both is and isn't a series of related short films, and is and isn't one story that sometimes switches perspectives.
