Personally, my first thought when watching the film was that it was a story similar to Frailty, playing with mental illness vs the protagonists really being chosen by God.

  4. Saint Maud is a gem, imo. Very original take on a familiar narrative in religious history & literature. The stuff about ecstatic religious experience reminded me a bit of Breaking the Waves, but the story is completely different. Glad you enjoyed it!

It's a slow burn but definitely worth it. If you enjoyed "The Blackcoats Daughter" and "The Witch" you would most likely enjoy "Saint Maud".
