Apr 15, 2023 · Fun fact: in one of the episodes they had an idea for a device that didn't exist but they thought could exist. They got Samy Kamkar (the hacker who temporarily bricked MySpace with an XSS) and he created a device that did what they wanted. Even funnier fact, for security purposes Samy never released the source code.

Sam Esmail is an American centrist. Here in Germany, he'd probably vote for Merkel's conservative party (which has borrowed many ideas from the struggling social democratic party under her reign). I think he's very open-minded on diversity issues, but overall more of an incrementalist status quo kind of guy (not that that was necessarily something terrible).

Sep 27, 2018 · Here is a list of Sam Esmail’s eight favorite films along with some info on the film. Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie. Themes: Surrealism. Dreams within a dream. The film consists of several thematically linked scenes: five gatherings of a group of bourgeois friends, and the four dreams of different characters.
Esmail: Yeah, and the world is changing way too fast for us. I mean, when we started working on it, I obviously was aware of AI, but now, four or five years later, it’s in the public consciousness and now that’s so influential in how we’re going to tell the story.
