The western border of the Promised Land started with the coastline along the Sea of Galilee. The northern border is defined by a horizontal line that crossed through Mount Hor, Lebo-hamath, Zeded, Ziphon, and Hazarenan. The eastern border crossed through Hazarenan, Shepham, Riblah, Ain, the Sea of Chinnereth and down to the Dead Sea.
Canaan was a smaller portion of the much larger region that was originally promised to Abraham. It was the initial installment. In Genesis 50:24 Joseph calls the land that God promised to Abraham “the land which He promised on an oath to Abraham.”. Yet, nowhere in scripture is that land called the “promised land.”.

This means that most likely Joshua was 69-79 years of age when he entered the Promised Land. Joshua went from slavery in Egypt to freedom in the desert. He was Moses’ attendant (Numbers 11:28) and eventually became the leader of the nation when they entered the promised land. In a way, that is like the journey of a Christian.

The dimensions of the land promised to Abraham was defined in Genesis 15:18-21. It extended from the Nile river of Egypt to the river Euphrates. These verses also included the territory of certain nations. That is, the promised land is not spiritual. It was literally described as earthly territory.
Notice that Ezekiel 48 describes the land assignments for the different tribes. Dan is the first tribe. God gives the tribe of Dan first place in the land assignment. Conclusion: Ezekiel 48:1-2 reveals that God will keep His promise and Dan is included in His promises. God promised the nation of Israel the Promised Land.

Then God responded in Habakkuk 1:4-11 by telling the prophet that He was bringing a nation to conquer and destroy many Israelites because of their wickedness. God was going to punish the evil doers – the wicked – for their evil deeds. Psalm 99:8-9 reminds us that our holy God forgives! but He also punishes the evil.
