    • Check Out Ashokan Reservoir. Did you know that Ashokan Reservoir supplies NYC with most of its drinking water? Yup, crazy but totally true. And just another one of the pros of living in New York City since this water is some of the cleanest in the entire country.
    • Eat ALL the Food. Contrary to what you might think, one of the best things to do in Woodstock NY is eat ALL the food. Because, trust me, the foodie scene really is that good.
  2. Dec 19, 2023 · Welcome to Woodstock NY, a bohemian artsy town located in the Catskill Mountains just two hours away from NYC. This small town is a must-see when in New York State. I spent a weekend in Woodstock and was completely transported to a unique town with adorable shops, great food, and a little adventure with the nearby hiking trails.

    • Hit the Trails in Catskill Park. Woodstock sits at the heart of 700,000 acres of wilderness. The Catskill Park, otherwise known as the Catskill Forest Preserve, is a New York State Park that spans four counties in the state.
    • Get Active at Ashokan Reservoir. New York City claims considerable bragging rights to its water, and for good reason. It's some of the cleanest drinking water in the country and, believe it or not, it comes from the Catskill region just outside Woodstock, New York.
    • Wander through Art Galleries. Long before whispers of the 1969 music festival, Woodstock had been eyed as a utopian art colony. In fact, its artsy roots can be traced back as early as the early 1900s.
    • Stroll along Tinker Street. Speaking of Tinker Street, this is the main artery that runs right through the center of Woodstock's charming main town. On either side, visitors will find galleries; shopping; restaurants; and architectural remnants of Woodstock's centuries-old past, like the Woodstock Reformed Church, which is from the mid-19th century.

Woodstock Festival, one of the biggest rock festivals in the late 1960s, was supposedly hosted in this town, but it was actually in Bethel. Nevertheless, the said concert made Woodstock a household name.
