Kei Nishikori (錦織 圭, Nishikori Kei, [ɲiɕi̥koꜜɾi keꜜː]; born 29 December 1989) is a Japanese professional tennis player. He is the first and only Japanese men's player in the Open Era to have been ranked in the top five in singles and the second male in history after Jiro Sato.

Jul 26, 2023 · ATLANTA (AP) — Kei Nishikori won Tuesday in his first ATP Tour event in two years, beating Jordan Thompson 7-6 (5), 7-6 (5) in the Atlanta Open. The 2014 U.S. Open runner-up from Japan hadn’t played on tour since Indian Wells in October 2021.
Nishikori is largely a baseline player, with extremely consistent and fast shots on both his forehand and backhand: many rate his two handed backhand as the best on the tour. He is renowned for his return of serve, and his ability to play defensively and grind his opponents down.
