Rene Daalder (born René Daalder 3 March 1944 in Texel, North Holland; died 31 December 2019, sometimes credited as Renee Daalder) was a Dutch writer and director. He lived in Los Angeles. Originally a protégé of Russ Meyer, Daalder has worked with Jan de Bont, Frans Bromet, and Rem Koolhaas.
Heavily involved with special effects and software development, Daalder has gained worldwide recognition as a pioneer of virtual reality and digital motion picture technologies. He also co-founded several online platforms including Space Collective, Cargo, and Persona.
Rene Daalder was born on 3 March 1944 in Texel, Noord-Holland, Netherlands. He was a writer and director, known for Hysteria (1997), Here Is Always Somewhere Else (2007) and Population: 1 (1986). He died on 31 December 2019 in Ventura County, California, USA.

René Daalder (1944 - 2019) was an adventurous filmmaker, futuristic thinker and one of the pioneers of the digital age. Together with fellow Film Academy students Frans Bromet, Rem Koolhaas, Samuel Meyering and Jan de Bont, he was responsible for the cheerful and scandalous De 1, 2, 3 Rhapsodie in 1965.
Starting out as a conventional filmmaker, Rene Daalder has written and directed 6 feature films as well as numerous television and music related projects, in Europe, the US and Canada.
René Daalder is known as an Director, Writer, Actor, Additional Music, Co-Producer, Executive Producer, Music Producer, and Screenplay. Some of his work includes Massacre at Central High, Habitat, Hysteria, Population: 1, Here Is Always Somewhere Else, The White Slave, 1, 2, 3, Rhapsody, and The Terrestrials.
