Scott 4 is Scott Walker's fifth solo album. It was released in late 1969 under his birth name, Scott Engel, and failed to chart. Reissues have been released under his stage name. It has since received praise as one of Walker's best works.

Dec 1, 2019 · On Scott 4, Walker, who became famously private in later life, had finally stepped out from behind other writers in a most definitive way and had also somewhat abandoned the story-songs of the first three solo albums (“Montague Terrace (In Blue),” “The Amorous Humphrey Plugg,” etc.).

The album's lyrics are top notch, hell it starts with a song that goes through the plot of "Seventh Seal", an existentialist medieval drama directed by Ingmar Bergman, and are full of fantastic metaphors. Scott is still sining about women for a good half of the album but the music isn't shallow.
