Thomas Tycho AM MBE DMus (11 April 1928 – 4 April 2013) [2] was Hungarian -born Australian pianist, conductor, composer and arranger. He was active in both classical music and pop. He was associated with musical productions on Australian television for many years from its inception in 1956, including such programs as The Mavis Bramston Show. [2] .

Tommy Tycho AM MBE (1928-2013), musician, began studying at the Conservatorium of Music in his native Budapest at the age of eight. At ten, he played Rhapsody in Blue with the Hungarian Philharmonic.
Apr 4, 2013 · Australian conductor and composer Tommy Tycho has died aged 84. Tycho, known as "The Maestro", was born in Budapest in 1928 and died in Sydney's Prince of Wales Hospital this morning. Tycho had a stroke four years ago and died from complications of pneumonia.

Born in Hungary, Tycho started his career as a pianist for ABC radio in the 1950s. With the advent of television Tycho moved to Sydney channel ATN7, performing on the station’s opening night program in December 1956.
