Leigh Douglass Brackett (December 7, 1915 – March 24, 1978) was an American science fiction writer known as "the Queen of Space Opera." [1] She wrote th screenplays for The Big Sleep (1946), Rio Bravo (1959), and The Long Goodbye (1973).
Leigh Brackett was a prolific and influential science fiction author and screenwriter, known for her work on The Big Sleep, Rio Bravo, and Star Wars. She died in 1978 and was posthumously honored with the Nebula Grand Master Award in 2018.
