Aug 5, 2015 · To celebrate the 30th anniversary this week of the release of Tom Holland’s horror-comedy classic, FRIGHT NIGHT, Daily Grindhouse had the pleasure of talking with David Chackler, the executive producer and music supervisor for the soundtrack to the 1985 film.
Original founder David Chackler decided to revitalize the legendary label, reacquiring the rights to the NuGroove name from his prior partners who had acquired the company in 2004 from Chackler, and two years later shuttered it.
David Chackler was born on 24 April 1945 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. He was a producer and executive, known for Village of the Damned (1995), Kickboxer (1989) and Child's Play (1988). He was married to Cheryl Saban. He died on 27 April 2024 in Moorestown, New Jersey, USA.

David Chackler is a veteran of the music and film industries, with over forty years of experience as executive, producer and entrepreneur. He has worked with artists such as Queen, Fleetwood Mac, Luke, WAR, Michael Lington and Down to the Bone.
David Chackler has worked on so many great films over the years. Some of his most notable are “Child’s Play” and “Fright Night”. Due to working on those films David had become longtime friend with writer/director Tom Holland. They recently created a production company, Dead Rabbit Films together.
David Chackler (Co-Producer of John Carpenter’s “Village of the Damned” and Tom Holland’s “Twisted Tales” series), and Dave Sereny will serve as Executive Producers on the film, with Dennis DeFrehn attached to produce.
