Jorge Alberto Furtado (born June 9, 1959) is a Brazilian film and television director and screenwriter. Life and career. Furtado attended university for courses in medicine, psychology, journalism and arts, but did not graduate.

De formação parcialmente autodidata, cursou medicina, psicologia, jornalismo e artes plásticas, sem concluir nenhum dos cursos. Foi durante o curso de medicina na Fundação Católica (hoje UFCSPA) que Furtado descobriu o amor pelos filmes.
Jorge Furtado was born on 9 June 1959 in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. He is a writer and director, known for The Man Who Copied (2003), Houve uma Vez Dois Verões (2002) and Meu Tio Matou um Cara (2004).

Biographie. Après avoir exercé divers métiers (journaliste, plasticien), il s’oriente vers le cinéma dès le début des années 1980. Il est le cofondateur, en 1987, de la Casa de Cinema 1 qui redonne un véritable nouveau souffle à la création indépendante brésilienne.
