Von 1999 bis 2000 arbeitete Neele Leana Vollmar als freie Regieassistentin bei diversen Produktionen. 2000 begann sie ihr Studium an der Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, Regie Szenischer Film, das sie 2005 mit ihrem ersten Kinospielfilm URLAUB VOM LEBEN abschloss.
In 2013, Vollmar began production on her fourth feature-length film "Rico, Oskar und die Tieferschatten" ("The Pasta Detectives"), which later won the award for Best Screenplay at the 2014 Deutsches Kinder-Medien-Festival Goldener Spatz and the "Weißer Elefant"-Award of the Medien-Club München.
