Originating from Tsuruya, founded by Takeo Ishimoto in 1935, the Descente brand has been around since 1957. In 1958, the company name was changed to ‘Ishimoto Shoten’ (石本商店), and then changed again to ‘Descente Co., Ltd.’ in 1961, which it has maintained to this day.
