May 30, 2024 · Eliot House, known for its iconic belltower and southwest gate that opens to the Charles River, will be the next undergraduate residence to undergo significant renovations as part of Harvard’s long-term House Renewal project.
Eliot House sits on the site formerly occupied by the Boston Elevated power house. It was funded by a gift of Edward Stephen Harkness. Eliot House initially housed male students and became co-educational in 1972 then opened to Radcliffe College women.
