Konstantin Ershov was born on 11 July 1935 in Chelyabinsk, Chelyabinskaya obast, RSFSR, USSR [now Russia]. He was an actor and director, known for Zhenshchiny shutyat vseryoz (1981), Viy (1967) and Kazhdyy vecher posle raboty (1974). He died on 28 December 1984.
Viy (Spirit of Evil or Vii, Russian: Вий) is a 1967 Soviet supernatural horror film directed by Konstantin Yershov and Georgi Kropachyov. Based on the story of the same name by Nikolai Gogol, the film's screenplay was written by Yershov, Kropachyov and Aleksandr Ptushko.
