Since 2006 R. Zalupe has been a percussionist in the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, also as a lecturer in the J. Vitols Latvian Academy of Music. At the same year Rihards together with Oskas and Raimonds Petrauski creates Xylem TRIO. Rihards Zalupe is an awarded Latvian composer, producer and percussionist.
Rihards Zaļupe was performed concerts in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria, Switzerland, France, Germany, Belgium, Italy and Spain. Alongside with academic music R.Zaļupe takes part in many jazz, Latin, pop, rock and house music projects as a drummer and percussionist.
Kopš 2006. gada R.Zaļupe ir Latvijas Nacionālā simfoniskā orķestra sitaminstrumentu grupas mūziķis, kā arī docētājs J.Vītola Latvijas Mūzikas akadēmijā. R.Zaļupe daudz spēlē kamermūziku un solo. Šajā pašā gadā kopā ar brāļiem Petrauskiem nodibina Xylem TRIO.
