Our History. In 1873, our founder, Eu Kong, left his hometown of Foshan in Guangdong, southern China, to seek his fortune in Malaya. Determined to alleviate the suffering of tin mine coolies by providing them with quality Chinese medicine and herbs, Eu Kong established our first shop in Gopeng, Perak, in 1879.
Eu Tong Sen (b. 23 July 1877, Penang, Malaya1–d. 11 May 1941, Hong Kong2) was a businessman and philanthropist who established his fortune in Malaya, and subsequently Hong Kong and southern China. The foundation of his business empire was established through tin mining and rubber plantations.
