Gabrielle Burton, a feminist novelist, memoirist and screenwriter who considered conventional marriage lopsided but identified with the pioneering Donner Party wife who perished protecting her husband, died on Sept. 3 at her home in Venice, Calif. She was 76. The cause was pancreatic cancer, her daughter Jennifer said.
