Chu Tʻien-wen (Chinese: 朱天文; born 24 August 1956) is a Taiwanese fiction writer. Chu is perhaps best known for writing the screenplays for most Hou Hsiao-hsien films. She is the recipient of the 2015 Newman Prize for Chinese Literature .

Notes of a Desolate Man (Chinese: 荒人手記; pinyin: Huāng rén shǒujì) is a 1994 queer postmodern novel by Taiwanese writer Chu T'ien-wen (朱天文). It is one of Chu's most well-known works and won the first China Times Million (Taiwan) Dollar Literary Prize in 1994.

Sep 23, 2014 · Taiwanese writer Chu Tien-wen (朱天文) has been awarded the fourth Newman Prize for Chinese Literature, becoming the second Taiwanese to win the US award that recognizes outstanding achievements in Chinese prose or poetry.
SIDELIGHTS: Chu Tien-wen "is a current star in contemporary Chinese fiction from Taiwan, her prose associated with decadent and fin-de-siècle syndromes by her book titles, themes, and a style that appeals to all the senses," observed Jeffrey C. Kinkley in World Literature Today.
Chu Tien-wen is a world famous writer. It is published in France and has won the 2015 Newman Prize for Chinese Literature. She is also a screenwriter, with, among others, The City of Pain (published in the Asiathèque in 2015).
