In 1996 with the support of MIT Media Lab director Nicholas Negroponte and MIT Sloan School of Management professor Edward B. Roberts, as well as venture capital, Charles Zhang founded his own company, Internet Technologies China (ITC 爱特信公司).
Sohu was founded as Internet Technologies China (ITC) in 1996 by Charles Zhang after he completed his PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and received venture capital funding from colleagues he met there.
In 1996, he helped Charles Zhang found the company ITC, which later became Sohu, one of China's biggest Internet companies. Roberts died in Boston on February 27, 2024, at the age of 88. [4]
