- Say “please” and “thank you,” readily and often. A gentleman can never say ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ enough. These two words are hallmarks of proper etiquette.
- Hand write your thank-you notes. Whether a gentleman is writing to an old friend or his potential boss, a hand-written thank you note can go a long way.
- Open and hold the door for others. This one doesn’t only apply to the woman your dating, but to everyone. A gentleman holds doors open for men, women and children alike.
- Alway pay on the first few dates. I understand women today are more and more independent, especially with the meteoric rise of feminism, but consider me old school.

- A gentleman helps anyone with their baggage. When a gentleman spots another person — man, woman, young, elderly — struggling with something heavy, they help them with it.
