Roger Proudlock (1920–2003) was a British film producer associated with Vandyke Productions, which specialised in making low-budget second features during the late 1940s and 1950s. He attended Eton College and later served during the Second World War .

Based on the 1952 novel ‘The Hop Dog’, Adventure in the Hopfields (1954) is a British children’s film about a young girl called Jenny Quin who accidently breaks her mother’s favourite ornament and, in order to raise money to replace it, runs away to the country to go hop-picking.
A senior civil servant, Pitt (Morell) has been convicted of a murder and sentenced to death. Days before his execution, Pitt reveals that he has been passing on top secret information to an agent of a foreign power and offers to reveal the identity of his handler in exchange for a reprieve.
He is convicted and given the death sentence. He protests his innocence and places a curse on the trial judge, Justice Manton; the prosecuting counsel, Sir Robert Wyvern; the foreman of the jury; and the real murderer. The curse is a summons to attend the 'Assize of the Dying'.
