Founded in 1958, Xi'an Film Studio is the earliest and largest film production complex in Northwest China. The film group has upgraded and reconstructed its old 10-hectare production area.
One of the major film studios in China, Xi’an Film Studio was established on 23 August 1958. During its first decade, the studio produced nineteen films, including Peach Blossom Fan (Taohua shan, 1963). The film featured the talented actress Wang Danfeng and was acclaimed by audiences in China, Hong Kong and Southeast Asia.

In 1960, aged twenty, he was accepted into a training class for film acting run by the Xi’an Film Studio. There were sixteen state-run studios in China at that time, and this was the closest to his home in Sanyuan, Shaanxi Province.
