Patrick Cargill (3 June 1918 – 23 May 1996) [1] was an English actor remembered for his lead role in the British television sitcom Father, Dear Father. [2] Early life. Cargill was born to middle-class parents living in Bexhill-on-Sea, Sussex. After education at Haileybury College, he made his debut in the Bexhill Amateur Theatrical Society.
Patrick Cargill (1918-1996) was a British comedian who starred in Father, Dear Father and other TV shows. He also appeared in films such as A Countess from Hong Kong and Carry on Nurse, and wrote and produced some works.

Father, Dear Father is a British television sitcom produced by Thames Television for ITV from 1968 to 1973 starring Patrick Cargill. It was subsequently made into a spin-off film of the same title released in 1973.
Best known for his appearances on British television in the comedy series Father, Dear Father (1968), Patrick Cargill was also a distinguished stage actor and a brilliant farceur.
