Jul 30, 2018 · Lexx was a darkly comic show about a crew of misfits on a living ship, created by the Canadian studio Salter Street Films. The series mixed sci-fi, horror, comedy and drama, and had a loyal fan base despite its raunchy and campy elements.
Michael Donovan co-founded Salter Street Films with his brother Paul Donovan in 1983. Though the company got off to a slow start, Donovan eventually had major success with projects such as the Canadian satirical comedy series This Hour Has 22 Minutes. He co-created the series Made in Canada .
In 2001, the company purchased Salter Street Films, which produced a number of television shows for both the Canadian and international market. However, soon after the acquisition, Salter Street was disbanded and its active projects were transferred to Alliance Atlantis' own television production/development division.
