Plata, who directed the 1999 blockbuster film Isusumbong Kita Sa Tatay Ko featuring Fernando Poe Jr. and Judy Ann Santos, had requested to be cremated.

MANILA, Philippines – Film director Boots Plata passed away at 12:42 p.m. on Wednesday. Reports said the 68-year-old director died of liver cancer. Several celebrities have extended their condolences to Plata’s family. Plata's wife, talent manager Dolor Guevarra, thanked them for their support.
