Percy Newbold "Peter" Coe (27 September 1919 – 9 August 2008) was a British athletics coach, author, translator and coach of his son Sebastian Coe.
Peter Coe, the father and coach of twotime Olympic 1500m champion Sebastian Coe, passed away on Saturday (9) aged 88. Sebastian Coe, an IAAF Vice-President, had delayed his trip to Beijing to spend time with his father who was seriously ill in hospital.
Peter Coe (1918-1993) was an actor who appeared in films and TV shows such as Vigilante Force, Road to Bali and The Invaders. He was a friend and former roommate of director Edward D. Wood Jr., who died in his home in 1978.

Peter Coe was a pioneer in athletics coaching, who turned his son Sebastian into a world-record-breaking, Olympic gold-winning middle-distance runner. He survived a torpedo attack in the Second World War and remained close to his son until his death in 2008.
