Richard Erwin Rood (December 7, 1958 – April 20, 1999), better known by his ring name "Ravishing" Rick Rude, was an American professional wrestler who performed for many promotions, including World Championship Wrestling (WCW), World Wrestling Federation (WWF), and Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW).
As Rick Rude was training to return to the ring, an unexpected yet sad turn of events changed everything. On April 20, 1999, Rick Rude was discovered by his wife as he died that morning. His death resulted from heart failure at 40 years of age.
Rick Rude was posthumously inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2017 by Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat. In yet another tragedy, the year before he was inducted, Rude’s youngest son, Cody, was killed in a motorcycle accident at the age of 19.
