Heigl was born Katherine Marie Heigl on November 24, 1978, in Washington, D.C., but grew up in New Canaan, Connecticut, as the youngest of four. In September of 1986, when she was seven, her 15year-old brother was thrown from the back of a pickup truck and died seven days later from his injuries.
