Serafima Germanovna Birman (Russian: Серафима Германовна Бирман; 10 August [O.S. 29 July] 1890 – 11 May 1976) was a Soviet and Russian actress, theatre director and writer. People’s Artist of the RSFSR (1946).

Oct 8, 2018 · Serafima Birman was an actress of the Moscow Art Theatre who worked in the First Studio and Second Moscow Art Theatre throughout the revolutionary and civil war period (1910s–1920s) and went on to have a distinguished career as a performer, teacher, and director in Stalinist and post-Stalinist USSR (1920s–1970s).
Serafima Birman was accepted in the MAT troupe and joined the First Studio of the MAT in 1913. She worked with Vakhtangov and contin- ued acting with the company from 1924 to 1936 as the First Studio became the Second Moscow Art Theatre (MAT-2), and taught for Vakhtangov at the Third Studio.
