Alma Tell, retired stage and screen actress, who died Wednesday night of a heart attack, will be buried here today. She was 39 years old.
A pretty, soulful-looking supporting player from the Broadway stage, brunette Alma Tell co-starred opposite Donald Brian in The Smugglers (1916), a comedy in which an invaluable jewel turns up on the wrong woman. The film was an early highlight for an actress who usually played the second female lead.
She began her career as an actress on the stages of New York before making her screen debut in the Edward José-directed drama Simon, the Jester, released in September 1915. Tell was most often cast in films as the second leading lady.
