Born in Montevideo, the son of Catalan artists, Mario Gas is a prolific and versatile creator, dedicated mainly to acting and stage direction. In 1996 he was awarded the National Theater Prize of Catalonia for Sweeney Todd, and in 2004 he was appointed director of the Spanish Theater of Madrid.
