Robert Moses " Lefty " Grove (March 6, 1900 – May 22, 1975) was an American professional baseball pitcher. After having success in the minor leagues during the early 1920s, Grove became a star in Major League Baseball with the American League 's Philadelphia Athletics and Boston Red Sox.

Lefty Grove (born March 6, 1900, Lonaconing, Md., U.S.—died May 22, 1975, Norwalk, Ohio) was an American professional baseball player, one of the greatest left-handed pitchers in history. He grew up in a mining town and worked odd jobs when his formal education ended after the eighth grade.
Lefty Grove may have been baseball’s greatest all-time pitcher. He was certainly its most dominant. No one matched his nine ERA titles, and his .680 winning percentage (300-141) is the highest among 300 game winners (eighth best overall).
Lefty Grove: Setting the standard by which all future Philadelphia southpaws would be judged, Grove was a nine-time ERA champ, who also compiled seven strikeout crowns and 2266 K's, 1,523 while in Philly. He retired in 1941 as the greatest left-hander to ever play the game.
