Richard Erwin Rood (December 7, 1958 – April 20, 1999), better known by his ring name "Ravishing" Rick Rude, was an American professional wrestler who performed for many promotions, including World Championship Wrestling (WCW), World Wrestling Federation (WWF), and Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW).
Making his debut in professional wrestling in the early 1980s, Rick Rude garnered a decorated career for himself before winding down his in-ring activity in 1994. Unfortunately, as Rick Rude was training for an in-ring return, he passed away in April 1999 at the age of 40 years old.
Rick Rude was posthumously inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2017 by Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat. In yet another tragedy, the year before he was inducted, Rude’s youngest son, Cody, was killed in a motorcycle accident at the age of 19.
