BI-LO is an Australian discount supermarket chain known for its fresh foods, groceries, and friendly service, all at affordable prices. With over 50 stores nationwide, BI-LO employs approximately 15,000 people across Australia.
Used to work for Bi-Lo, was the budget chain of Coles. In the early 2000s Coles management realised Coles stores were more profitable and had the great idea that if they made Bi-Los into Coles they would get more profit across the board. Turns out budget shoppers want budget prices.
By 1987, BI-LO was operating 28 supermarkets in South Australia and generating one third of metropolitan Adelaide’s supermarket sales, when it was acquired by Coles Myer, which also purchased the 34-store Shoeys discount supermarket chain in New South Wales (subsequently renamed as BI-LO).
