Robert Emmett Dolan (August 3, 1908 - September 26, 1972) was a Broadway conductor, composer, and arranger beginning in the 1920s. He moved on to radio in the 1930s and then went to Hollywood in the early 1940s as a musical director for Paramount.

Captain Robert E. Dolan, Jr. '81, USN. Captain Dolan was born in Florham Park, NJ, and, after high school, sought an appointment to the Naval Academy. Dolan graduated with the Class of 1981 and was initially stationed on INCHON. Rising through the ranks, Dolan had been on the Joint Chiefs of Staff and was the commander of JOHN HANCOCK by age 40.

CAPT Robert E. Dolan, USN. Friends and Shipmates, On 11 September, my sister's husband, Captain Bob Dolan (OPNAV N513 Branch Head and former C.O., USS John Hancock) perished in the terrorist attack on the Pentagon. Bob was not only my brother-in-law, but also a close friend and Shipmate.
