João Manuel Relvas Leopoldo Botelho (born 1949) is a Portuguese film director. He has directed and written the screenplays of numerous films. His films have won several awards. His works have been nominated for the Venice Film Festival's Golden Lion.
[ 1] Estudou Cinema, no Conservatório Nacional, e Engenharia Mecânica na Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade de Coimbra . Foi cineclubista, no Porto e em Coimbra, onde dirigiu o CITAC. Foi crítico de cinema na Gazeta da Semana e na revista M, de que foi fundador. Iniciou-se como realizador em 1976 .
