The National Institute of Education (NIE) is an autonomous institute of Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore. Ranked 12th in the world and 2nd in Asia by the QS World University Rankings in the subject of Education in 2015, [1] the institute is the sole teacher education institute for teachers in Singapore.
What We Do. The main objective of NIE is to formulate the national curriculum and to produce books and other such materials for the implementation of the curriculum and to conduct research for the formulation of secondary education policy, direction and vision.
The National Institute of Education (NIE) was formed in July 1991 with the merger of the IE and CPE. The NIE was also established as an institute of the Nanyang Technological University that same year. As part of the university, NIE now provides a new four-year degree course offered to matriculated students.
