The three-act structure is a model used in narrative fiction that divides a story into three parts ( acts ), often called the Setup, the Confrontation, and the Resolution. It was popularized by Syd Field in his 1979 book Screenplay: The Foundations of Screenwriting.
In 2024, Third Act is dedicated to electing leaders who prioritize climate action and uphold democratic values at the federal, state, and local levels. We have a growing roster of activities to help us win for the planet and our democracy.
Bill McKibben is a founder of Third Act, which organizes people over the age of 60 to work on climate, democracy, and racial justice. He founded the first global grassroots climate campaign, 350.org, and serves as the Schumann Distinguished Professor in Residence at Middlebury College in Vermont.
