Set in old England, Hugh Grant ("Four Weddings & a Funeral", "Notting Hill") plays a highwayman who steals from the rich and gives to the poor. But during one of his robberies, he falls in love with an aristocratic lady, Emma Samms ("Star Quest", "Delirious").
The young Lady Panthea Vyne (Lysette Anthony) falls in love with the handsome highwayman (Hugh Grant), who saves her from her brutal husband. He kills him in a fair duel. Later, when Charles II (Michael York) is reinstated as King of England, she attends the royal court.

Set in the England of Charles II about an aristocrat who has been forced to become a highwayman and who falls in love with a young girl he has sworn to protect after her brother has been beheaded. Their enemies accuse them of crimes and both face execution.
