Oct 22, 2020 · The Speech. by Vittoria Scarpa. 22/10/2020 - Laurent Tirard signs his name to an ironic and intelligent arthouse comedy which appeals to the wider public and advances at pace with its protagonist’s stream of consciousness.
The movie is fast paced and most of the movie is narrated by the main character, which can feel a bit heavy at times, but overall a very well done movie. The ending is up for interpretation and a very good ending in my opinion.
Meet Adrien! He's 35. He's stuck in a mid-life crisis. He's neurotic and hypochondriac. Tonight he's stuck in an endless family dinner and his girlfriend is not answering his texts. On top of that, his dumb brother-in-law asks him to prepare a speech for his wedding. Could it get even worse?
Nov 1, 2022 · The Speech (Le Discours, in the original French) is a film about a man dealing with two anxiety-inducing situations simultaneously. Or not dealing with them. Number one: the speech. Adrien is a nice, typically anxious French guy at a family dinner so unremarkable that underfloor heating appears to be the main topic of conversation.
